Ray Chen Violin Recital
Film Concerts PH invites audiences to a world of wonder, nostalgia, and adventure with its second independent production, The Symphonic World of Studio Ghibli, arriving at The Theatre at Solaire from July 31 to August 2, 2026.
Presented in partnership with The Japan Foundation, Manila, and endorsed by Studio Ghibli, the concert—which comes as a timely follow-up to Studio Ghibli co-founder and Academy Award-winning filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki’s 2024 Ramon Magsaysay Award— is an official commemorative event of the Philippines-Japan Friendship Year 2026, marking the 70th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between the two countries. This milestone year celebrates the theme: ‘Weaving the Future Together: Peace, Prosperity, Possibilities,’ highlighting decades of friendship, cooperation, and cultural exchange.
With original scores performed by the 83-piece Filharmonika Orchestra under the baton of Gerard Salonga, the purely orchestral program showcases the unforgettable music of acclaimed composer Joe Hisaishi, whose melodies have resonated across generations. For over four decades, Studio Ghibli has captured hearts with its richly imagined worlds and timeless storytelling, underscored by its memorable music.
Audiences will be swept away over approximately two hours of music, journeying through the whimsical castles of Howl’s Moving Castle, the enchanting streets of Spirited Away, the heartwarming adventures in My Neighbor Totoro (with special narration), and the lively melodies of Kiki’s Delivery Service.
Whether you grew up with these films or are discovering them for the first time, The Symphonic World of Studio Ghibli brings their magic closer to you.
Will the films be shown on screen during the concert?
There will be no film shown on screen. This is a purely orchestral program meant to highlight and appreciate the music itself, giving the audiences the chance to fully appreciate the compositions of Joe Hisaishi beyond the films.

Film Concerts PH has the rights to perform the official film scores included in the setlist, rented from approved distributors.
How long is the show?
The show will run for approximately 2 hours, with a 20-minute intermission in between.
